The Do’s And Don’ts When Cleaning A Kitchen

The kitchen is one of the most important areas in a home, if not the most important. Due to what goes on in a typical kitchen, it is bound to get messy before you know it. You obviously want your kitchen to be clean, but not cleaning it the right way can lead to a safety hazard.

The Do’s

1. Start By Wiping Down Your Counters

Your kitchen counters see a handful of different items on them daily. These items might have been in contact with something dirty before being cleaned or stored away. You would be surprised how much bacteria and dirt your kitchen counters absorb each month. Spray or wipe down your counters a few times a month using certified disinfecting cleaning materials.

2. Tidy Up Your Counters

Speaking of counters, countertops are often filled with unneeded junk and clutter. Set aside some time and remove what does not belong on your counters. Organized and cleaner counter space will do wonders when you use your kitchen.

3. Do Not Forget To Mop The Floor

While you are at it, do not forget to mop your kitchen floor! Mopping your floor can eliminate dust, allergies from cropping up, and dirt.

The Don’ts

1. Avoid Using the Same Cleaning Rag

Using one cleaning rag to wipe down kitchen items will counteract your cleaning efforts. Using the same cleaning rag on items will spread bacteria quickly and is a notable safety hazard. Always have a few cleaning rags handy and there is nothing wrong with using more than a few.

2. Do Not Always Use The Same Sponge

Along the lines of the cleaning rag, do not use the same sponge to wipe down different items. It is recommended that you replace your sponge once a month because they absorb plenty of bacteria.

3. Never Mix Cleaning Solutions

As tempting as it may be, mixing cleaning solutions is a n0-no. Mixing cleaning products may seem like a good idea on the surface, but truth is, the combination does not work and will backfire.
